Research
Research plays a fundamental role in the consolidation of the University as a space that boosts production and dissemination of knowledge. At Metodista, research is carried out at different levels, ranging from scientific initiation programs up to advanced projects, focusing primarily on local development and interdisciplinarity.
Research is motivated in various ways: financial aid, financial support agencies and similar institutions besides the financial aid for research obtained by partnerships between the University and financial support agencies and institutions in Brazil and abroad, research is also motivated by means of scientific publications both in printed and in electronic versions. At Metodista, there are more than 10 titles issued, besides libraries that make available an ever growing collection undergoing constant updating. The access to the Portal de Periódicos da CAPES [CAPES Portal of Journals] – with over 11,400 titles of national and international Scientific Journals – is totally free of charge. Sharing knowledge is also made possible not only by means of the yearly Scientific Production Congress, which brings together over a thousand students and researchers from different areas of knowledge and institutions, but also other events.
The Universidade Metodista de São Paulo also has two important and well regarded organs for research and extension: the Chair of Cities Management and the Unesco/Metodista Chair of Communication. The mission of the Chair of Cities Management is to contribute to the development of a city or region life quality, by means of a collective production of knowledge, promoting reflection and action which may support projects and politics for city management.
