The king-messiah in Jerusalem. Observations on the Davidic messianism in Psalms 2 and 110

Milton Schwantes

Abstract

There are several psalms that can be called messianic. Among them there are specially those which, giving prominence to the messiah of Davidic line, are in the environment of contents and characteristics of the Jerusalem theology. This is the aspect that this essay intends to achieve, regarding psalms 2 and 110. One of the outlines of Jerusalemite messianism is the violence associated to contents of messianic-monarchic nuance.
