As the condition become worse, these blood vessels will swell and causes leak of fluid and blood into the retina. Many people with diabetes notice that their vision becomes blurry when their blood sugar increases. This is because the sugar in the blood is diffused into the lens of the eye which causes swelling and that will change the focal point of the eye. If the leaking or eye hemorrhage is not treated properly, it may result in permanent loss of vision. One of the popular misconceptions about diabetes is that diabetes is caused by overconsumption of sugar. This is because the main sign or indication of someone who is suffering from Diabetes is the elevated blood sugar level. It is more direct and logical to blame the increased intake of sugar for the elevated amount of sugar content in the blood, but the actual culprit is not the sugar...There are 3 types of diabetes: Type 1 Diabetes, Type 2 Diabetes, and Gestational Diabetes. Each of these groups of diabetes has different root causes. Let's just focus on the most common type of them, which is Type 2 Diabetes (account for 90% of worldwide diabetic patients), it is also known as Insulin Resistance in which the insulin cannot effectively does its job of transporting glucose molecules into the cells for respiration purpose.Type 2 Diabetes is a modern disease which develops inside the body over the years before the first sign of hyperglycemia appears. The question is not about why the sugar level in the blood increased, the correct question to ask is:"Why the glucose in the blood cannot be used effectively?"To answer that question, we must first take a look at how glucose is used by the body to produce energy. When the food (carbohydrate or sugar) that you have eaten is digested and absorbed into the blood at the small intestine, which takes approximately 2 hours, your blood sugar will surge. These extra glucoses must be transported into the muscle cells for energy production or sent to liver to be converted to glycogen as storage.
